Shri Sankat Nashan Ganesh Stotram has been described in Narada Purana as well as Ganesha Purana. In the Narada Purana, Lord Ganesha is praised by sage Narada, while in the Ganesha Purana, Ganesha is praised by the deities. Pranamya Shirasaa Devam Gauree Putram Vinaayakam ।
Bhaktaa Vaasam Smarennitya Maayuh Kaamaartha Siddhaye ॥1॥
Meaning – [ Narada said ]
By bowing your head to the son of Paarvati, Devadeva Shri Ganesh ji, for the fulfillment of your age, desire and wealth, remember that ‘abode of devotees’ regularly ॥1॥
Prathamam Vakratundam Cha Ekadantam Dviteeyakam ।
Triteeyam Krishna Pingaaksham Gajavaktram Chaturthakam ॥2॥
Lambodaram Panchamam Cha Shashtham Vikatameva Cha ।
Saptamam Vighna Raajam Cha Dhumra Varnam Tathaashtamam ॥3॥
Navamam Bhaala Chandram Cha Dashamam Tu Vinaayakam ।
Ekaadasham Ganapatim Dvaadasham Tu Gajaananam ॥4॥
Dvaadashaitaani Naamaani Trisandhyam Yah Pathennarah ।
Na Cha Vighna Bhayam Tasya Sarva Siddhi Karam Prabho ॥5॥
Meaning – First ‘Vakratunda‘ (having curved trunk), Second ‘Ekadanta‘ (having one tooth), Third ‘Krishna Pingaaksha‘ (having black and brown eyes), Fourth ‘Gajavaktra‘ (having elephant-like face), Fifth ‘Lambodara‘ (having big belly), Sixth ‘Vikata‘ (Formidable), Seventh ‘Vighna Raajendra‘ (the king who rules over obstacles), Eighth ‘Dhumravarna‘ (who has gray complexion), Ninth ‘Bhaala Chandra‘ (the moon is adorned on his forehead), Tenth ‘Vinaayaka‘, Eleventh ‘Ganapati‘ and Twelfth ‘Gajaanana‘.
- The man who recites these twelve names three times (morning, midday and evening), O Lord ! He is not afraid of any kind of disturbance. This type of remembrance gives all accomplishments ॥2 – 5॥
Vidyaarthee Labhate Vidyaam Dhanaarthee Labhate Dhanam ।
Putraarthee Labhate Putraan Mokshaarthee Labhate Gatim ॥6॥
Meaning -With this, the desirous of knowledge gets knowledge, desirous of wealth gets wealth, desirous of son gets son and desirous of salvation attains salvation ॥6॥
Japed Ganapati Stotram Shadbhir Maasaih Phalam Labhet ।
Samvatsarena Siddhim Cha Labhate Naatra Sanshayah ॥7॥
Meaning – One who chants this Ganapati Stotra gets the desired result in six months and attains complete accomplishment in one year. There is no doubt about it ॥7॥
Ashtabhyo Braahmane Bhyashcha Likhitvaa Yah Samarpayet ।
Tasya Vidyaa Bhavet Sarvaa Ganeshasya Prasaadatah ॥8॥
Meaning – The person who writes this and surrender it to eight brahmins, by the grace of Ganesha, he gets all kinds of knowledge ॥8॥

Namo Namo Bhuta Krite Suresha ।
Namo Namah Sarva Dhiyaam Prabodha
Namo Namo Vishva Layodbhavaaya ॥2॥
Meaning – You are in all beings, salutations to you. Hey Suresha ! You are the creator and destroyer of creation, salutations to you. You are the enlightenment of all intellects, the originator and the destroyer of the world, salutations to you ॥2॥
Namo Namo Vishva Bhrite Akhilesha
Namo Namah Kaarana Kaaranaaya ।
Namo Namo Veda Vidaama Drishya
Namo Namah Sarva Vara Pradaaya ॥3॥
Meaning – Hey Akhilesha ! You are the custodian of the world, you are the cause of causes, salutations to you. You are invisible even to the scholars, salutations to you. You are the one who gives boon to everyone, salutations to you ॥3॥
Namo Namo Vaaga Vichaara Bhuta
Namo Namo Vighna Nivaaranaaya ।
Namo Namo Abhakta Manorathaghne
Namo Namo Bhakta Manorathagya ॥4॥
Meaning – You can’t be expressed by speech, salutations to you. You remove obstacles, salutations to you. You are the destroyer of the desire of the non-devotee, salutations to you. You are the one who knows the wishes of the devotees, salutations to you ॥4॥
Namo Namo Bhakta Mano Rathesha
Namo Namo Vishva Vidhaana Daksha ।
Namo Namo Daitya Vinaasha Heto
Namo Namah Sankata Naashakaaya ॥5॥
Meaning – You are the master of the desires of the devotees, the fulfiller of their desires, salutations to you. You are skilled in creating the world, salutations to you. You are the cause of the destruction of the demons, salutations to you. You are the destroyer of troubles, salutations to you ॥5॥
Namo Namah Kaaruni Kottamaaya
Namo Namo Gyaana Mayaaya Teastu ।
Namo Namo Agyaana Vinaashanaaya
Namo Namo Bhakta Vibhuti Daaya ॥6॥
Meaning – You are the best among compassionate, salutations to you. Your form is knowledgeable, salutations to you. You are the destroyer of ignorance, salutations to you. You bestow opulence to the devotees, salutations to you ॥6॥
Namo Namo Abhakta Vibhuti Hantre
Namo Namo Bhakta Vimochanaaya ।
Namo Namo Abhakta Vibandhanaaya
Namo Namaste Pravibhakta Murte ॥7॥
Meaning – You are the destroyer of the opulence of the non-devotees, salutations to you. You are the liberator of the devotees, salutations to you. You put the non-devotees in bondage, salutations to you. You exist in different idols, salutations to you ॥7॥
Namo Namastattva Vibodhakaaya
Namo Namastattva Viduttamaaya ।
Namo Namaste Akhila Karma Saakshine
Namo Namaste Guna Naayakaaya ॥8॥
Meaning – You are the giver of enlightenment, salutations to you. You are the best among enlightened, salutations to you. You are the witness of all actions, salutations to you. You are the master of virtues, salutations to you ॥8॥

Bhavatkrita Midam Stotra Mati Preetikaram Mama ।
Sankashta Naashana Miti Vikhyaatam Cha Bhavishyati ॥9॥

Meaning – [ Ganesha said ]
This hymn sung by you people is going to give me great love, this stotra will be known as Sankat Nashan. For those who read and listen, it will be the giver of all desires. One who recites this three times (morning, midday and evening), he will never be in trouble ॥9 – 10॥
